By any measure, the AIG "bonus" employees are not sympathetic characters. As a result, the congressional bullies were able to pass a bill taxing their bonus payments at 90% for the express purpose of "punishing them."
- If they can do it to "them," they can do it to us.
- The punishment taxes are designed to distract voters from their own incompetence. Once again the House (Barney Frank) and Senate (Chris Dodd) Finance Committees failed in their oversite roles. Had they done their jobs, the bonus payments would not have been made.
